Policy Clearinghouse

Everyday the food and physical activity choices people make are influenced by actions taken at the federal, state, and local levels. Policy and planning decisions set the groundwork for everything from neighborhood walkability to school food. Healthy environments are founded in healthy policies.

The seven domains of the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative recognize the unique roles they can play in ensuring the healthy choice is the easy choice in all places children and families live, work, play, worship, and learn. The policy clearinghouse highlights policies in each domain that make healthy eating and physical activity options more readily available in San Diego County.
